When I think of Fall, the first thing that comes to mind besides the usual suspects aka pumpkin spice latte or the latest sweater trend is Fall Layering. Once Fall rolls around, I automatically start thinking about what pieces I transition into fall with some great layering hacks. I swear its like having multiple wardrobes without even realizing it. For me this is great because I do try to get the most out of my pieces regardless of season if I can manage it. The possibilities of fall layering are truly endless and if done right can look so fun & chic. Today on A Styled Love Affair, I am sharing my tips on layering that ever coveted summer favorite – the slip dress.

The slip dress is one of the those staple pieces that won’t ever go away, a versatile piece that is perfect for both day or night. Whether you are pairing your favorite slip dress with flats or heels or adding your favorite belt, it’s one of those easy pieces that are great for a girl on the go. With such a versatile piece, I know it’s one of those staples that I don’t want to put away now that summer is over. With the endless possibilities of fall layering, you won’t have to put that favorite slip away anytime soon.

1. Ribbed sweater or turtleneck

The easiest way to layer up your slip dress is to pair with your favorite ribbed sweater or turtleneck as I have done today. Make sure it’s not a bulky sweater if you are planning to wear it underneath your dress so as to avoid adding bulk. Pair with your favorite or sneakers and your ready for a fun fall brunch with the ladies.

2. Oversized Sweater Or Cardigan

Now is time to do the opposite and grab that oversized sweater. A oversized sweater makes a great fall layering piece. Giving your slip dress a peek-a-boo moment I like to say. If you feel like it’s still to bulky grab a fun belt to cinch the waist. If your not into the oversized sweater and want to take out that new long cardigan for the day, this is great staple piece to add fall layers. You can also use that belt still with the cardigan as well to give some shape to your look, just wrap around the cardigan to cinch everything in.  Another easy way to look fun and chic when the temps begin to drop outside.

3. Outerwear

The most common way to add layers to your look is to add your favorite outerwear piece, super easy and helps to break up the look. Today, I have added my favorite leather jacket (from last season but has been restocked – link below) and it is the perfect way to add layers or even to finish off my look. Whether it is your favorite leather jacket, full coat, denim jacket or even bomber jacket, whatever your fancy make sure it doesn’t over power that fun slip dress.

4. Basic Tee or Graphic Tee

Great for a casual weekend or strolling around town, pair your staple white tee or play it up with a fun graphic tee. This is such a simple way to layer under your slip dress and literally comes together in under a few minutes. Grab that denim jacket & sneakers or booties and you are ready for the day.

So how are you going to layer up your favorite slip dress this season? The possibilities are endless when layering up your favorite pieces, which is why I love this season. So take advantage of fall layers for whatever summer staple you don’t want to stow away for the next few months.

Loves I hope you all have a wonderful day today and even better we are halfway through the week. Weekend here we come.
